A Message From our Principal

Ms. Carrie Caples

MLK Lions, 

As we end the first semester and enter into the second semester of learning for the 2018-2019 school year, I am so excited to welcome returning students, staff, and families as well as any new LIONS who may join us.

Preschool through 6th grade students will be learning and growing to meet personal academic goals while continuing to develop as 21st Century Learners .  Students will be challenged by our grade level curriculum and supported by our RTI (Response To Intervention) practices.  MLK will continue holding high expectations for students in academics as well as behavior.  Using Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS), our goal is to develop students who meet school wide expectations for exhibiting positive behaviors.

I look forward to working together with students, staff, and families to build relationships, fortify strengths, and produce life-long learners.  These partnerships will allow staff to better understand students and enable us to focus our instruction to meet their needs.  They will learn strategies that will help them be successful in and out of the classroom.  Each of us have an essential role in achieving success for the learner.  Our potential is limitless, when we work together.
